Are these static- sensitive? Should I be doing, or NOT doing, anything special in handling/installing them ? Thanks- |

I'm no expert, but I believe that they are static sensitive. I ususally treat them like memory in a computer -- discharge myself by touching something, and I usually stand on concrete when making a change. I've yet to have a problem. |

I don't believe that they are static sensitive. They are actually pretty rugged. |

It is CMOS digital ICs that are the more sensitive of the common parts (like the 4053 electronic switch chips used in the RD/RP models). The op amps are fairly rugged but NOT immune to static discharge! I always try to follow good procedure by touching chassis ground before handling and touching any semiconductor but I DO NOT otherwise worry about it. I have handled semiconductors almost daily for 30 years in the performance of my job (without special ESD tools or clothing) and related hobbies and I can't remember ever popping a part as long as I was paying attention, not running on a carpet (generating static) and properly discharging myself to ground before handling the devices.
