Hi,

I am thinking about replacing the old celestion speakers in my 2 MM cabinets (A 421 GS and a 212 RH) I stumbled across the Reverend Alltone 1250 speakers, and read rave reviews several places. Are there anyone in these forums, who has any experience with those speakers ? And if so - are they a good replacement ? Alternatives are very welcome. (The amp is a HD130 reverb :-)

Regards
Jens

I put an Alltone 1250 in my Fender Blues Jr, and am very pleased with the 'Fender-ie' sound produced. (BJ's dont sound much like Fenders, out of the box). Altone 1250's don't sound like the Celestion Vintage 30, and they don't cost as much. They're rated at 50W. Mine does sound alot like an old Jensen C12 (kind of crisp and 'up there'. Not at all 'boomy').
It's my understanding that they are manufactured by Eminence for Reverend. I paid $49, but now they're up to $59 + UPS. Oh, and by the way -
the basket and magnet assembly is large (which was a problem for the Blues Jr., whose EL-84's are but an inch away from the magnet assembly)

While I'm pleased with the speaker and would buy another for a similar application, my advice is, - - don't spend the $$$, until you can hear 'em.

Suggestion: Call Reverend and ask for Alltone 1250 sound files, approximating your
application. Celestion's got 'em for their speakers, and so do other manufacturers like
Tech21, Line6, etc... If they don't have 'em
make a suggestion that they come up with some.
Good Luck.
