What's the difference? (into MusicMan 130): two 16ohm spkrs in parrallel > 8 ohm switch, & two 8ohm spkrs > 4 ohm switch? any? (the term 'load' is meaningless to me unlike for eg watts or sensitivity of a spkr). I think the stock is 2x8ohms > 4 Ohm switch(?), but would say two 16ohms > 8Ohm switch.. sound louder? be more strain on the OT? or be simply wrong approach? I have just ordered two 10", 75w, 16Ohm Eminence spkrs you see for my 130, but totally forgot about the ohms rating. Im wondering if this is wrong/ no issue/ what the difference would be. If only valve amps were more simple.. I just want some sounds! thx BJilm |

I just posted a response in the other topice but to add to it, I would use the 2x8's in parallel for the four ohm load because THEN you have the flxability to ADD a cabinet and use the 8 ohm setting. If you use two 16's for 8 ohms and use the 8 ohm setting. you're already at the top of your impedence and adding a cab like another 8 ohm cab gets you to a total 16 ohm load which is 100% mismatch. It will take it but will suffer. Mike. |
