Hi. I have a 112 RP one hundred amp and I want to get the chassis No. in order to try and date the beast. I can't find it however. Does anyone out there know where it may be found? Thanks. Dr. Arkov |

Chassis# = 2100-RP. The schematics are dated mid to late 1980. Your amp will be newer. It's probably easier to date the speaker. Eminence speakers are easiest. There are instructions elsewhere in this forum. |

Thanks Langley. I'm using 6L6 tubes (svetlana) at the moment but I read in a posting on this site that some of the 112 rp's had EL34's in them. Do you know if there's any way I can find which the amp was shipped with and whether certain dates for the amp manufacture correspond with certain tubes or is it pot luck? I'm finding the Svetlana's have made the amp very tinny and trebly. I have to set the treble right down to 1 or 2 otherwise it just sounds harsh. Admittedly I haven't had the amp biased since putting the new tubes in so maybe that's the whole problem. |

The newer amps shipped with 6L6's, because 6CA7's became scarce. I think it's safe to assume that the amp's 'birthday' is around 1982-3. The amps shipped with the tubes they were designed for, but there were transitional periods when it was pot luck out the door. Sometimes you get an indicator of the 'mish mash'. for example, I've got a 210-65 transitional model. The amp has the SolidState Driver board, but the included schematic shows a 7025 tube as Phase inverter. (I hadn't seen the correct schematic until I found this site.) Re.'harsh' treble, some food for thought: Capacitors ever been serviced? Speaker developed a 'rub'? Time for Tech service?

Thanks Langley. I'll take your wisdom on board and have the monster looked at by a pro. My powers are weak and my electrical knowledge is on a par with a medieval peasant... |
