Ok here is the situation: two guitarists two heads and two cabs. Simple enough, however, both the cabs can be run in stereo and what we want to do is run the heads to both cabs that way I have half the cab and the other guitarist has half the cab in each cab. My peavey classic 100 has two outputs wired in parallel and the music man hd130 has two outputs wired in series. Each cab is 8 ohms bc they are split. So I've got one head running to two 8 ohm cabs. I was wondering what ohm setting should be used on the peavey and on the music man. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks. P.S. the reason we are doing this is so we can place one cabinet by the bassist and drummer and the other by the guitarists and vocalist. If we do it this way we do not need to play as loud and everyone can hear what going on better. | ||

If driven in parallel, the two 8-ohm loads would be 4-ohms (the Peavey). If driving 2 8-ohm loads in series, that is a 16-ohm load and this is about as high as the Music Man should be run in the 8-ohm position. I would think it would be better to make an adapter that takes the two cables from the cabinets, connects them in parallel and provides one connection to the Music Man. Then you could run the Music Man in the 4-ohm position and have a perfect match (which would be easier on the amp long term). This could be made from a small aluminum project box, three 1/4" Phone jacks and a little wiring. Steve | ||
