Hello! I have just bought a fender footswitch, with RCA plugs, to use with a HD 130 head. Is it possible to add leds to the switch? Thanks Christer | ||

I tried a search, but couldn't find anything specific on the topic. Any input here would be appreciated. I played a gig this weekend and could hardly find the footswitch on the stage floor..  | ||

This depends on which model of amp you have. The RD series have the capability of supporting a single LED to indicate the Distortion function. In this case, the LED is connected to the outputput side of the switch and the grounded case of the footswitch housing. I think the dropping resistor required is built-into the amp (looks at schematic)... Yes, there is a capacitor and an LED in the foot pedal and this is clearly shown in the schematics for the RD series. However, this same scheme cannot be applied to the other amps in the line without internal modifications to specifically support the LED. Steve | ||

Steve's right(as usual). You could buy triple pole switches(if you are using double poles-otherwise, a double pole will work) that are currently available and power the diodes with either a battery or power from your pdalboard(if you have one). That's the easiest way and the safest if you're not into yutsing around with your amp. That way, you just provide a power and diode (with dropping resistor) and flame on! Mike. | ||

Thanks! I'll go for the battery option, as my pedalboard powersupply would melt if I added another pedal..  | ||

The LED's pull almost NO current so that shouldn't stop you from using your pedal supply. Besides, batteries are a pain! Mike. |
