Terry, in another thread you wrote: "If you have a RD50 with 12 inch speaker then the amp is self biasing" Is this also true for the RD50 with a 10" speaker? I have been wanting to put new tubes in it and can't seem to get any direct info about having to rebias it afterwards. TIA |

Brad that is true of all the RD50 amps. If you can get some 7581A Phillips that is a Military 6L6GC. I think you will like them. You can find them on Ebay |

Tim, thanks for the info. I will definitely check on E-bay and see what I can find. I just happened to find a matched pair of Phillips 6CA7-EL34,s that I had forgotten about. Too bad they weren't 7581A's They were from a MM65 Bass head that I used to own. I have really loved all the MM amps that I have owned down through the years and wish I still had all of them! Someone else had told me to try a pair of Electro-Harmonix 6L6GC's. I was told they have a bit more bite than the Sylvania's that are currently in the amp. I really love the tone from them too, just getting old and I want to have some replacements on hand. Thanks again for your advice. This is a really cool site and I am definitely glad I ran across it. Very much appreciated! BC |
