Hello. Has anyone tried a pair of Celestion Greenback's in their Music Man? If so, what's the verdict? I have ordered a pair for my MM 212 HD130. It's one with a tube inverter, so I thought that it would have a nice Blues/Rock sound. I know that Greenbacks are only 25 Watts each, but they should be fine with the amp just on low power and if I like them, I plan to get another pair for an extension cabinet to help handle the power. I mean, come on, how often does anyone really get to open up a 130 watt Music Man? I have come close for a few gig's, but the only time I got to put everything wide open was when I got it back from the shop after resoring it and I wanted to make sure that it was working good so I played for a hour or so with everything except the reverb and tremolo on ten. Man was that loud in a regular sized room. If anyone has already done this, what's your opinion? Thanks, Justin |

Closest I've come is a pair of Vintage 30's in my HD150 ( later model-no inverter tube, black faceplate )...bass is a little mushy/flabby but mids and highs scream. Chose these because of concern over power handling, and I just like the way they sustain ( then we get into the whole tube thing..Ive also got a pair of HD130-210s and although I prefer the tightness of the 10s, the 6L6s in the HD150 with the V30s are quite an experience!). Have fun... |
