Just put a matched quad in to replace the scabby old Shuguang EL34's: What a blast!! These are well built and sturdy, not rattling like the chinese were. My '77 One-Thirty combo has a B+ of 754 Volts. Adjusted grid-bias to 0.43 Volts. No problemo, great sound. Recommended. |

Thanks for the real-life experiences! I bought a pair of these when they first came out but I haven't needed to put them in and couldn't give much of an opinion. However, I DID physically compare them to an original Sylvania US made 6CA7 and they are obviously a physical copy of the original! Steve

I've tried both the JJ E34L and the 6CA7EH. I used the JJ's for several months and have had the EH's in for about a month. I've found that the 6CA7EH have a bit more bass, a bit less mids, and maybe a bit more highs, but I think they chattered at me 1-2 times, I think. The JJ E34L have tighter bass, a bit more mids, and a bit smoother highs. Both seem to break up at about the same rate -- unlike what you might expect when comparing 6CA7 to EL34. I don't think either tube sounds bad, and the differences are minor, but I think I probably prefer the JJ E34L because they have a smoother sound, more musical. But, I like the look of the fat bottle 6CA7 tubes! |

I put in some 6CA7EH's in my 210 sixty-five yesterday and biased it. They replaced a pair of 30 year old phillips tubes. Okay - so the phillips were old, so I am not tying to compare the tubes to anything else. The EH's sound fantastic! Titanic bass response, and more clarity than i need, with a hint of breakup with my pick attack. Awesome! -of course, the amp was pretty tasty to start with. |
