Could anyone tell me approximately how much a 65musicman head, chassis # 2100-65 with 412GS cabinet in nearly mint condition would sell for on the market today...or overall what it is worth?
I recently aquired one for $650 and admittedly don't know a lot about these particular amps, i was looking for a great tonal amp...it sounds great but i wanted to know what they really go for..thank you very much

If the internals are in as good shape as the exterior is, then you did very well, both in price and choice. Enjoy.

I agree, I think you did well! You wouldn't get rich re-selling it but you certainly didn't pay too much. The 412GS cabinet is fairly rare all by itself and a lot of folks keep their eyes open for them.

Thank you very much gentlemen, i really appreciate your feedback....and if i could bother you one more time...what, based on these types of amps, would be a good matching dirt box (under $200 category), in your opinion? I am looking for a vintage clssic tone, but with a little distorted character...thinking along the lines of the edge, j. buckley, tonic...that tonal direction, I just want to bring to life what is resting inside this beauty....thanks for the help

I use the Zoom 606 floor unit and its jam packed with effects as well as several overdrives from slight crunch to way more than youll ever need. the good thing about the Zoom is it doesnt color the amps voice so you can still hear the MM signature tone and punch and these units are around 70 bucks new.

I like the "Boss Blues Driver" for that little bit 'o 'dirt'. Economical too.

Volume and gain around 10 o'clock,
tone at around 9 o'clock, for single coils.

A bit less gain (9 o'clock) and a bit more volume for humbuckers.

To get a bit of 'VOX AC30', advance the
Blues Driver's tone control toward the treble side (circa 12:00).

I think digital distortion is bit of a joke, and i detest boss products when compared to say EHX or better. I have been really happy with the ts-808 (jrc chip) the reissued these under ibanez and maxon, and for crunchy sounds a rat. If you want real heavy the USA big muff is good. Sans amp products are good and so are fulltone and the mxr distortion +. as uposb4 stated you want something that doesnt colour your amp. make sure its hard bypassed. And if you looking for a push over the cliff - any mosfet booster would be nice. if you wanna a fuzz face - make one! hope this helps.
