Alright, I thought my tubes had died because the amp was making a really terrible distortion crackle noise. I went from 6ac7 to el34. Nothing changed. I do have the "one-thirty" but i cant seem to find the preamp tube i guess its a transition model. Anyone have any idea? |

What kind of EL34's did you put in the amp? These amps NEED high voltage capable tubes. Did you rebias them after you put them in? No preamp tube to look for...the models that have the 12AX7 use it as the PI tube. |

These amps are old enough to start having very weak, worn, dirty tube sockets. Try cleaning and re-tensioning the power tubes sockets first. Make SURE you drain the caps before you do it. Measure voltages to ground from the caps to make sure they are zero and leave the shunt in place WHILE you are re-tensioning. Mike |

Michael Swart lives in my town and i have been in touch with him. Id rather have a well experienced tech since i have little experience with amps. Thanks |
