does any one know how many caps and what voltage/best kind/quietist capacitors are needed to replace the whole shabang? electrolytic's included. and whatever else will make life of the amp longer, maybe even make the tone better! thanks! |

Don't bother replacing anything but the electrolytics-they're the only ones that really go bad. I would suggest vishay/sprague as they are the best out there. Let me know what head exactly that you have and I'll cout up what you need to order. Mike. |

Re: *-65 w/SS Driver's 100uF/450V filter caps, anybody used Xicon XAL450V100, or Illinois Cap 107TTA450M (both 22mm x 50mm)? If so, prefered one over the other?

I just bought an early 12ax7 sixtyfive head. This amp sounds amazing with no indication that it needs new caps. (no hissing or other noises) I do suspect it still has the original caps, in fact Steve saw pics and replied he thought they were the original ones. Should I replace them anyway?? |

I just e-mailed Terry Loose. It seems he hasn't posted for quite some time. Does he still do repairs?? |
