Does anyone know where I could get reverb and tremelo footswitches for the MusicMan HD120. Will vintage Fender two switch RCA's work? Thank You!!! |

The only difference between the classic Fender dual footswitches (with dual RCA plugs) and the similar Music Man footswitches is the appearance (at least on an HD130... never heard of an HD120!) On the standard MM amps (not the RD/RP series) the footswitches are electrically the same as the Fender. On the RD/RP series, the basic circuitry is also identical, however the Music Man RD/RP footswitch has an LED to indicate when the distortion "channel" is activated. Fender footswitches will work but do not provide the LED indication (although it could be easily added). Steve

Steve, Thanks so much for the helpful info. You are correct in that the amp is a HD130, it's been in mothballs for awhile and I just checked the label. I can now go ahead and order the Fender footswitch knowing it will work ( and add the LED'S). I don't think that I'll be able to find the RD/RP ones. I haven't been able to get any good info until you wrote your response so your e-mail is greatly appreciated. Michael A. DiZio |

I will mention that if you aren't picky about getting a footswitch that matches the original, you can get a nice heavy-duty dual footswitch with 2 LEDs from MCM Electronics on the web(www.mcmelectronics.com). Their model 555-3107 is only $14.95 and is built like a tank (all steel), has a good rubber skid pad on the bottom, 2 LEDs, and an extra-long cord. The only thing you might have to rewire would be connector. It comes standard with a stereo 1/4" TRS plug instead of the dual phonos. I don't remember what the LED wiring is but I think it works as-is when wired up in an RD/RP model. Steve

Hey steve - will the 555-3107 work OK as a replacement for a 112RP amp footswitch? I've been looking for a good switch for a while. thanks for the site BTW - awesome resource. Thanks John |

The 555-3107 footswitch will always require wiring up some RCA phono jacks to the end of the cable (it comes with a 1/4" stereo TRS phone plug). I believe that the LED above each footswitch can be used with a little rewiring to match the LED circuit of the RP/RD footswitch (see schematic). Steve |

instead of wiring up the RCA phono jacks in the rear cant you just use a 1/4" TRS to RCA adapter? i have a boss single button footswitch that i am going to try to do that with, was that a waste of money? (i have to wait for my pots to dry out after their last cleaning before i attempt it.) |

it does not work. well it works, but not in the on off way. the boss pedal is more like a temp switch, whereas it is only on (or off) whenever the button is held down. |
