Hi All, I used a RP65 for a long time, but had to sell it when I emigrated. I recently acquired a mint condition HD130, with the 12AX7 tube inverter. It also has the original alnico speakers. Unlike my old RP65, which sounded great on pretty much all settings, I'm having trouble finding the sweet spot of this amp. It almost seems too "bitey" for want of a better word. It doesn't seem to react as well to a compressor as my little Fender Blues Jr either, it seems to accentuate the piercing frequencies. Before I fork out for a set of Webers or an eq pedal, can anyone suggest the settings they use? Many thanks, Tim |

Hi Tim, If you haven't already try using the #2 channel on your amp. For me, it seems to be not as bitey as Channel #1 and brings out the mids a little more. Some times I'll go back and forth between the two channels looking for a tone. It's a quick fix, but maybe save you some $$$ on different speakers. Good Luck, Dave |

Hi Dave, I take it you mean the input #2 on the reverb/trem channel... I will try it out. Actually, I gigged with it last night and it sounded pretty good. Maybe the amp is just unusable for smaller practice spaces! Thanks, Tim |
