Hi- anyone know what caps to do a recap in a MM 130? are the whole darn lot suggested, or just the 'biguns' (I think these are underneath in that metal-domed cover?). Any ideas on an approx cost involed in buying a bunch would be useful 1st. cheers B-JILM |

Cost depends on what BRAND you get, and where you get them. F+T's are poular at the moment but don't know where you are so don't know who YOU can order from. If you are recapping, the "biguns" are not the only ones. Which 130-ss driver or tube? There are eletrolytics on the driver boards as well as on the bias supply board. Since it's 30 years old, I suggest doing them all. I have used Illinois caps as well as sprague(way overpriced) and panasonic for the smaller ones and xicon as well. No problems here. I have been stocking some of the cheap ones here from weber as well. THEY are cheap. Mike. |

Hi Mike -Im in the UK, but we can usually get the usual suspects here. As to brand I would go down the 'nearest appropriate decent/ not most dear' I believe a close brand will be fine. What are the 'bigun' values for starters? I have some srague atoms and others in an unused amp I made.. maybe good donors if I can match values. Cheap ones from weber sound just fine to me. Can we buy from you/ this site? thanks B-JiLm. |

Mine is the SS preamp 2275 Musicman (HD115) 130. Actually now converted to a 2x10. [Sprague not srague!] thx |

I don't sell stuff. I DID add up what I SAW on the 130 though. 4x150uF@50v 2x100uF@450v 3x20uF@25v That's what I could see from the schem. The f+t's seem to be getting good reps, and like I said, Illinois gets a bad rap sometimes but they are used in a million amps worldwide as oem so they can't be THAT bad. I use them. I get Illinois caps from triode electronics in Chicago. Remember: you can go UP in voltage rating but try to keep the value the same. Mike. |

Great help Mike thanks (ive just seen a separate section for capacitors with all sorts of thread goodies.. so sorry I missed that/my thread should be there I guess). Higher V not lower noted! 450v or more I think then. Terrific- cheers. BJiLm |
