I'm having a real hard time sourcing new electro' caps for my amp. 150uf/50v. I can find lead free ones, maybe those would be fine. Also would the easy to find Sprague's work, as far as physical size goes, for the 100uf/450v's? Were they all silver from the factory? I have some blue Mallory's in there. Got this amp from a rummage sale for $25.00. Original speakers and tubes. What a great amp. Haven't had one since the 70's and I think it was a 410-65. Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks |

Well, the 150 at 50's are getting harder. https://taweber.powweb.com/store/capord. htm Weber is slow to pack and ship though. The Spragues should fit fine. Tride has the 100@450's but for the 150 @ 50 you might have to gang two together in parallel.Remember that you can go up in voltage rating without any problem. Why the hell can't I get stuff like that for $25.00 (jealous!). Mike. By the way, you CAN use the radials in the 150 @ 50 slot. Ugly but they work. THEY are cheaper at mouser that way. Nichicon is good stuff. |

By the way, AES has 100's and 50's that you can gang together. Mike. |

Mouser has them. Part # 75-TVA1311-E3 www.mouser.com The 100uF/450V part # is 75-TVA1718-E3 . These will fit in MM amps too. Good score! Well worth bragging about. Cheers, Lars Verholt |

Okay, I found the two 100/450's and the five 150/50's. I should replace the two 20/450's I'm guessing also, right? Any others I should be concerned about? The amp is pretty quiet. By the way, mine is the 12AX7 driver model (2275-65 chassis?) It looks like some have been replaced already if they were all silver from the factory. Three of the 150/50's are blue Mallory's and the two 20/450's are also blue Mallory's. But maybe I should just do all of them and start fresh. I love the sound of this amp. Warm, very warm with the original "fat boys". Tried some early 2000's winged C's but didn't care for them, even after a few bias adjustments. I really am impressed with this forum. You have done a great job and I really appreciate the help - thank you. gwmn |

Unless you can find a date on the chassis saying "changed on such and such a date", I would just change them all. ESPECIALLY the ones, in your case, on the driver board and bias supply board. VERY IMPORTANT. Blue Mallory's could still be 20 years old. |

Hello again. I'm finally getting time to order caps. Will the mouser P/N 647-TVX2W220MCD work fine for the 20uf's under the hood? I do have some brand new sprague 20/450's in another amp I could pull. Thanks again |

Hello again, Just wondering if the mouser p;n 647-TVX2W220MCD will work fine for the 20uf's under the hood. I do have some new sprague atom 20uf/450's in another amp I could pull if it's critical to stay at 20 here on these amps. Thanks again |

Didn't mean to post the same question twice. Didn't see the first one, so I thought I messed it up. Thanks |

That will be fine. That's pleny close unless they are drastically out of spec, which I doubt. |
