I hope this is the right place for this thread but I've been wondering if anyone has seen these 3 side by side and heard these side by side to know if there really is any difference in sound? I know that the cabinets for the 65 and 130 or pretty block like where the RD actually is angled. I know the differences as far as specs for all 3 but has anyone heard any differences between them? | ||

For what it's worth I've played a 2/12/65 and have used a HD130 head with two 2/12 cabs. Never really noticed a marked difference in the sound except the HD130 is louder. I've had nights when my sound/tone was awesome with either amp. I remember looking at the settings, wanting to keep that sound forever. Then playing another gig and just can't get comfortable with anything I'm hearing. Tweaking everything, looking for that tone. I guess this doesn't help much but I feel better.. Dave. | ||

The only comment I can make is that the actual sound levels out of a 65 watt amp and a 130 watt amp are SOOOO close that it's not really worth the difference, unless you HAVE the 130. A 65 watt amp is LOUD. How MUCH do you need these days! I use a 65 when I play my MM out and have NEVER had trouble being heard. Don't have ANY experience wit the 2-10-100 so I'm scrap on that one. Have had 65's AND 130 and there isn't much difference. Tone- EVERY amp is different and even two so called identical amps will sound different. So what I'm telling you is I'm NO help! The 130 just gives you a SLIGHT edge in where the clean stops and the dirt starts. just my 2c's worth. Mike. |
