i was wondering if anyone knows how many watts the original speakers in a 410 hd 130 were?
im thinking of replacing the speakers with 35 watt jensen C10Q's (35x4=140watts) but dont know whether i should go for a higher powered speaker like a 75 watt eminence legend 105.

i have 2 50 watt 10 inch enimenances speakers (bad spelling) in my HD130...but i play at low volumes... u should be ok, but 300watts would be better at higher volumes than 140...tone is all important as well...

Agreed, using 50-75 watt drivers would be safer than 35 watt drivers. If you use distortion, there could be more than 140 "apparent" watts as far as the speakers are concerned.

If you drive the speakers close to or at their rating and blow one out, all of a sudden you will go from 4 speakers to 2 speakers or 3 speakers (depending on how your drivers are configured... Series/Parallel or Parallel/Series).

For the proper speaker wiring, check this diagram:

4-Speaker Wiring

In either case, your remaining drivers are strained even more and the amp may do strange things because of an instantaneous change in the output impedance.

Taking a chance by not putting in beefy drivers may cost you an amplifier under the right set of circumstances. 35 watt drivers might be OK for a 40-50 watt 2-speaker amp but they would be strained at high power in a 4-spear arrangement in a 130 watt RMS amp.
