Here is the clip of the RD-50 I just modded. It has a EVM-L 12" speaker. http://www.monsterspacetoast.com/1965Che vyMalibuPage.html This is our Bands website, and the Bass players Chevy Malibu. |

This is a different RD-50 with the "Special" mod that I call. It sounds reminisent of Robben Fords tone. |

Thank you Andrew, I am still trying to learn some new tricks and always will. I have had the opertunity to play with some awesome players and have learned a lot from them. Just keep practicing and playing, and especially feeling your music. We were quite happy with the RD-Special-Mod. It can get a nice Dumble-like tone, but its still a Musicman with all its glory Hows your HD doing? Thank you, Ed |

Its doing great, I think I fixed all the bugs and your modified Paul C mod is working well. I did go back to the 12ax7 PI tube, ended up liking that better. |

Thats awesome Andrew! Keep me posted on it from time to time, its great to hear that these amps are still going strong. Maybe someday I could build a tribute amp with some important Musicman features. I think a tube driver circuit with these mods and maybe a 12AX7 type overdrive. I have to say though that this HD-130 I have been working on for Rod is getting some great vintage Bassman/Plexi tones with the modded IC preamp. It can get that big jazzy open tone to Heart/Zepplin tones with my Two-Rock 12 65 speaker! I am thinking about a notch filter for a scooped modern tone option thats switchable on that channel. The reverb channel will retain the Musicman/HD vibe, very rich and bluesy but with a switchable Clapton gain mod and my midrange circuit that allows the stock midrange up to a boosted Santana-like mid, that is like the tone he got on "Europa". I was watching a video of Tom Johnston of the Doobie Brothers playing through his HD 130 212, back in 79'. What a tone he got with that Gibson Firebird. I'll try to post a clip of it soon or you can email me if you want. thanks, Ed |
