Does a bias resistor or any other component(s) have to be swapped out as well ? If so, which ones, and what values ? I HAVE THE SCHEMATIC for the RD-100 |

One thing you also need to consider is the amount of current draw that they have. Some of the new prod kt88's pull a boatload of current to power the heaters. Probably more than the MM transformer can handle. Just something to consider. Mike., |

well, kool a subject I can pipe in on,lol.I have kt88's in mine (might be were you heard of it on here.before I did it I did check the draw for the ones I installed and they were right in line with a 6L6,so that never concerned me,my only concern was the pin layout was abit different, but being the adventurous type i tried it anyway .thats been a long time ago and they sound great .had to change the way they hang ,took out the 6L6 clamps and used the kt88 spring type.now the ones I installed are the electo-harmonix ones got a great deal, and would have to recomend them .I can't say I have checked to see if the more expensive kt's have a bigger draw.one thing though they will change the sound of a 100 rd ,you lose a ton of fender sounding tone .made mine sound more marshall/mesa like ,but I did a few other mods too so that may be not all tubes.?I guess all I wanted to say is I had a great experience , but any mod is a try at your own risk sort of thing . |
