A few years ago, I owned two 112RD50 amps. Loved the clean channel hated the overdrive channel. I tweaked and tweaked, updated versions and read about all I could, but never got the channel to sound respectable. I sold them and bought a Rivera R30 and never looked back. (I also have a Music Man 112RP65 that I will never sell!). So, this week I found a good deal on Craigslist for a MM 110RD50. I bought it. And, here I go again. 1. It needs recapped. 2. It needs new reverb drivers 3. The MM speaker is pretty good clean, might keep it – don’t know yet 4. Clean channel very nice 5. Limiter channel is muddy I’m not sure which version I have, I think I saw an 81 on the board, but I didn’t compare values to schematics. So, what are some of the cool mods guys are doing now to make this channel usable? I’d really like both channels to be tonally the same but have the ability to change the volume. |

Yes, I recall trading emails with him a few years back, and I even re-read my previous exchanges with him and others here. But, I was curious if anyone has developed any new and innovative mods. |

Have you tried a different op-amp in that channel?you can change the tone stack too, usually the mid pot values have always been wrong. Also if you haven't check the facebook page,Ed had some posts on some new things he's doing with the rd-50. |

Yes I am going to build an amp based on some of my finding, some would like me to go into production with this. The clean channel now does Fender Deluxe on steroids, pushing the 6L6's into a sweet harmonic clip! says Jeff Prine, Experienced pro Blues guitarist in FL. The Limit channel does the Robben Ford and Chris Cain thing. I have a couple variations of it now. I will be offering these mods for a reasonable fee. If there becomes enough interest, I may build something from the ground up, this is becoming a much more wonderful Blues/Rock and Fusion amp! |
