Hi to anyone out there. I'm looking for a source for that Pinwale/Pinwhale white corduroy looking tolex that some of the MM amps came with. If anyone out there has a source, please help!!! I personally have never seen it available. It was a dirt and beer-gunk magnet and was hard to clean & keep clean. From a practical standpoint, I am replacing mine with Fender beige Tolex. To each his own... | ||

Anyone have any suggestions how to properly clean the pinwale corduroy? I have an RD112 fifty on the way, in the pinwale corduroy...knowing myself like I do, I'll want to clean the living daylights out of it upon it's arrival. | ||

If it was me, I'd probably wait for a bright summer morning. I would remove the chassis and most of the hardware from the cab and proceed to soak the top surface of the amp in a thick application of Formula 409. After 30 minutes of soaking, I would take a toothbrush and lightly scrub down in the grooves until I thought it was pretty much covered. Then I'd take the amp out on the grass or driveway and hose down that side to give it a good rinse. Rotate the amp 90 degrees and repeat, facing the previously cleaned and rinsed side (and internals) towards the sun to dry while the new "top" gets the soak/brush/rinse treatment. In a few hours, you would be done cleaning. When the amp is all rinsed and dried, you could repair any cosmetic problems before reassembly. Steve |
