My RD112 get a distorted sound as soon as I turn up the volume from zero. Both on the clean and distorted channel. There is no way that i can get a clean sound out of it. The tubes are new and the caps has been replaced but that made no difference. |

If you have an effect in, try running a signal in there and see if it comes out clean. That should tell us if it's in the preamp or the finals. |

If I may elaborate: Since we're dealing with an RD-50 amp, the effect in is an RCA jack for the reverb. If memory serves, it's the one closest to the speaker baffle. If you have an adapter, sending a signal through that input (even plugging in a guitar would work) could shed some light over your distortion issue. The clean and O/D channel share a common input stage but the reverb return does not pass through there. If your output stage is distorting you could be experiencing bad cross-over distortion, which is not uncommon in those amps. Cheers, Lars Verholt |
