Hi! Just bought one of these nice amps, a 212 HD in fact. However, when playing in the lower register I hear an annoying buzz. After some inspection I managed to locate the buzz to one (or some) of the power tubes. Could this indicate a need for changing them or could it be something else? Has any of you had this problem? Great site! Regards Mans |

Buzz can be generated by microphonic tubes, poor solder joints, cracked components, etc. You could try swapping out the tubes (easiest to try with no disassembly, troubleshooting or soldering) but much beyond that will require some repair skills or a technician.

I just had my tubes replaced and they were making all kinds of noise in a 210 130 combo.certain notes sounded like shakin a bottle full of sand or something like that...when i plugged it into an extention cab and unplugged 210's it went away....so i investigated the tubes......what I found was the farther from the tranny the more they vibrated from the 210's.......I guess the weight of the out put trans holds the chassis solid ...so I made some washersout of sorbothane and some steel washers and put them on the bolts holding the chassis in the cab...also put a couple small peices in between the chassis and cab at the rear near the tubes....taped them in place until it was bolted up .....vibration of the worst ofenders is almost all gone ...the tube rattle is gone.....Rob |
