Hi, I'm having my newly acquired HD 130 repaired and need a source for parts. Skips Music in Sacramento is repairing and are telling me they can't find a source for parts (caps/transistors). Their emails are not being returned by MusicMan. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

I sent a reply this morning to their message from yesterday and there isn't any Music Man company to write to!

Ernie Ball (who owns the name) won't help on these amps and I can only respond when I read my e-mail. This web site is not a company but a information outlet only.

Read the history portion of this website, Music Man hasn't been in business for 20 years so I doubt they have an e-mail address!

Anyway, the JE1692 replacement is the 2N6488 and most capacitors can be ordered from one of many sources that are easily found by searching Google if they don't already have good sources for standard amp parts.

Steve

It kind of scares me to think about having your amp fixed at a music store that doesn't know MM went out of business 20 years ago! Ernie does a nice thing by having the schematics up on their sight as well but support is not going to be there. You have to have your own sources for routine things like caps and stuff and the stranger things are out there in cyberland. Mike.

This has been an eBay nightmare. Seller said amp worked fine. When it arrived it had a bad power tube (undisclosed). I switched it with the one next to it and it immediately blew a fuse. I then took it to my tube guru. He replaced the 4 tubes and fired it up and everything was lit up. He then touched and a wire on the guitarside input with a probe and immediately blew a cap over one of the tube sockets (flames shot up, fuse blew again). He is not a transistor guy so he suggested I take it to another tech in Stockton who used to sell Music Man. New tech had it 4 days and said he couldn't fix it and then suggested I take it to Skips. I will past the above info on to them. Thank you for you quick responses.
