I know that this has probably been asked before, but does anybody on this planet supply grill cloth that is exactly the same as the original - I'm pulling the trigger on an amp that needs a replacement grill cloth. Cheers |

I know that MM stated in its marketing materials that their grille cloth was especially transparent (soundwise), but I have found that this product http://www.cedist.com/products/S-G303 is pretty darn close. CE Distribution has a few different retail websites too - tubesandmore.com being one of them. I would be very happy to hear from more experienced cloth-replacers than me. Cheers, Lars Verholt |

Pretty nice that they have samples available for a buck. You can compare without spending a fortune. Mike. |

I think the original grill was fender, which is basically a grey plastic and silvery weave, with added subtle vertical bluey grey cloth stripes often called 'aged' now (and NOS stuff v unlikely to be found.. or if so v expensive). The best replacement has to be simply fender 'silver sparkle' with a subtle black vertical instead of the dusty-blue cloth stripe. Ive just done mine and looks just great/ very orig/ true. Id be very surprised if MM had their own special one if with all the fender connection. Allparts UK (or US), or Solsound UK has orig fender stuff/ £12 or $20 a yd. |

Try www.qcomponents.ca for a Canadian distributor. Or www.mojotone.com for a US distributor. |

Actually having 2 bits here, an orig 70's fender grill (what I assume MM used also) and the std fender 'silver sparkle' the differences are only the cloth vertical bluey stripe, whereby the new std 'silver' has its grey plastic as a vertical (not black as I said- the black stripe is horizontal on both). Spacing between each 'line' is a bit less on the orig's too. |

Thanks for all the replies guys. Unfortunately I was let down on the amp an RD50 110 with valve pre amp. Grrrrrrrrr!!!! It just seems such a shame that an "Exact" replacement is not out there. |

I just replaced my 210-65 torn grill cloth with some of Mojotones's "aged" black/white/silver grill cloth. I have to say, it's an almost perfect match. I know it's impossible to find "the good stuff" today, but for color and cost, this stuff is pretty good. Just thought I'd share that. } |

So yesterday, I got me an RD50 112, made in 1981. I'll post a separate thread on it - but it needs new grill cloth so I'm back to square one |
