I recently came into possession of an HD 130 Reverb (it was my father's) and have been checking it out before I started really using it. And I had two concerns that I thought somebody might be able to help me with (while I'm not totally stupid at electronics, guitar amps really aren't my speciality). 1.) While moving it, I discovered that the cap over the fuse does not really lock into place. It actually fell out while I was moving it, and I freaked out. So far that's the only thing to have fallen off (it's actually in really good condition with that one exception). This is probably a problem though, right? I was wondering if any of you guys out there could give me any advice on a quick fix (even if it requires getting a new cap and all, which I'm thinking must be necessary). Or should I just take it somewhere to get it serviced? 2.) This is the moronic part of my thread. I actually checked the fuse, and on the back of the amp it says 5 amps, 125 volts. The amp in place is 5 amps, 250 volts. That's not right, right? Or is this some exception? Any help any of you more knowledgable people could give me would be greatly appreciated. Also, I was curious as to what year my amp was made. If anyone knows of a serial number list (or at least if the protocol for making a serial number involved the year), I'd also appreciate it. | ||

Don't worry about the fuse-that's ok. You probably would have a hell of a time FINDING a 125v fuse these days. They are all pretty much made to take the higher voltage. As far as the fuse cap, it should twist in and lock. If it doesn't, either the ears are broken off or someone subbed a cap without ears OR the fuse holder itself is broken. If you look inside the fuse holder, you should see a path on each side that the ears should snap into. If not, the fuse holder is broken and will need to be replaced. Mike. | ||

Thanks for the info. I'll take another look at the holder/cap, but I think it's likely to be broken. I remember some of the metal looking a little bent around, so... maybe I just answered that. Thanks |
