To All -

Someone is using the address webmaster@pacair.com
to distribute their Viruses / SPAM.

I've been receiving .exe and .com files emailed.
almost daily for over a week.

I once placed my email address in a post.

One can only assume that this site has been
compromised, and that a musician is the perp.

Steve K., I suggest you close or re-name the
webmaster@pacair.com address.
Also, please delete any stored email addresses
that have been placed in post's.

Thank you.

You know what they say about assumptions....

Most email viruses around forge the from address, making it look like it's come from someone else. There is no correlation between sites being compromised and a virus email pretending to come from a pacair.com address.

Hey Anonymous # 2 -
If I posted my name, what makes you think that it wouldn't be yours?

Well, I tried. I also witnessed the 2nd plane to hit the WTCenter, on 9/11, fly over my head. I wasn't much help there either.

Much luck finding LM307H's, boys.

Damian is right...the "from" address in a virus-bearing email doesn't mean a durn thing. In fact, it is MORE probable that the virus has "forged" the "from" address than not...the perps of this crap don't want to make it easy to track down the point of origin (obviously)...it takes all the "fun" out of their warped little game...all the more reason to have a current update on your anti-virus programs. But, hey, thanks for the heads up anyway, man. It's appreciated, and I'll definitely keep an eye on my virus protection log when keyed up to this site for a while. Although, I check this site several times a week and I've never had a virus file show up with this address on it (yet).

I too have received various e-mail messages from a "pacair.com" e-mail address, including "webmaster"! Since I knew I didn't send anything to myself I simply deleted them without reading them.

As a point of information, I NEVER send anything via e-mail that isn't a reply to an inquiry. As John noted, in any such bogus mail the "From" address is NEVER close to the truth. If you lead an active Internet life there is almost nothing you can do to prevent such garbage from showing up in your mailbox, but you CAN protect yourself by occasional virus scans and using a good firewall ALL THE TIME to prevent any infection from calling home and multiplying your woes. I use Zone Labs "Zone Alarm Pro" product and have been very satisfied.

Sorry about the apparent link to the web site, but that e-mail address is also a part of the public record in the web site registration database so trying to "sanitize" this site probably would have little or no effect.

Steve
