I’m sure this question has been asked 10,000 times but I’m new to the forum so I’ll ask anyway. I have a really clean 410-130 and it sounds great for the first couple minutes then all the sudden the high end disappears and it’s real bassy sounding. This only occurs on the Master vol channel and if I hit the strings real hard giving a louder signal the amp will fix itself bringing back the right tone for a few seconds then drop the highs again. This amp is in immaculate condition, not a spec of rust or any indication it’s been stored anywhere damp. When I took it apart and inspected the board for cold solder joints and cracked resistors it was flawless. I numbered the OP amps and switch there locations ruling out they were bad (though I guess the sockets could have issues. Basically all the obvious things seem to be just fine. Has anyone run into this before? Is it a common problem? Can someone steer me the right way before I break down and pay way too much for someone to repair it? Thanks -spot | ||

It sounds dumb but you MIGHT check/clean the input jacks. They get corroded sometimes and will loose front end signal. USUALLY, though, they get tinny but anything's possible. After that, re-flow the solder connection on the tone and volume pots-verify good ground on same pots. Other than that, you probably have a cap opening up. MIke. |
