I know this has been covered before. I saved the article somewhere, but since it came up at Ampage, I thought I'd foward the post. And the question was about transistor substitutes for the RD 2100 and 2165. And the answer is... JE1692 is a house number. The generic equivalent - according to Music Man - is the 2N6292. The 2N6292 is a TO220 NPN rated at 7 amps and 70 volts. SInce the current through a 6L6 is very small, I think you can easily get away with a smaller xstr like the TIP41B or TIP41C. These are 6 amp parts at 80 and 100 volts respectively. They are a very common type you may havr around. Also another common one is the MJE15030. 15028 would be cool also. the MJE15030 has a 150 volt rating, and I might even prefer it over the stock part for that reason. In fact, I just verified that Peavey used the MJE15030/15028 in a very similar cathode drive design. Paul |
