In Australia, MM amps are highly regarded. However, the most common models seen are the 210, 212 and Heads. To my unexpected surprise, I recently picked up a mint condition 65-115 with 12AX7. Still 120v so I use a transformer to increase to 240v. Also, while the early series 410 are as rare as chicken teeth in Aus, I've managed to locate two this year. Both converted to 240v. One in mint condition and the other will need some restoration. I'm pretty stoked, apart from some minor repairs, new tubes and a bit of soldering, each sing! That brings my collection to 7. I've also got an early 65-210 and 130-212; and a 130 reverb head (no 12AX7) with two RH 212s, and a later 65-210(no 12AX7). I'll post some pics soon. The later models will be sold off in coming months to make way for an early series 112 and a Head to complete the collection (as soon as I locate them). Apart from that, I've also collected old MM ads and will be framing these. ~ John |

well john sounds like you have had some real luck in finding some great musicman amps.only thing you might want to do is instead of boosting the wattage to that amp,i'd use a variac and lower your wattage to the 120v that head is made for .i may have misunderstood you ,but you made it sound like you are pumping 240v into a 120v head, sounds like a meltdown to me,now if you installed a 240 tranformer into the head that might be a differnt matter, not sure if you might still need to change some electronics to keep it from frying something, this is a question that a few of the guys on here know way better then me .i haven't seen what makes the difference between the us and the export models, the canadian models are even different i've heard. |

Hi Bill & Spot, Apologies for not replying sooner. Yes I'm running the 115 through a transformer. Probably will change to a 240v soon. I'll snap some pics on the weekend after I pick up the 212 which is being bias tested, and then post. I'm grateful this site exists, as newbies like me can learn a great deal from the forum posts. Regards, John |
