So I have this drummer in my band who goes by the name Fergie - he is very loud. Well, I finally have something that will stand up to him, I call it the FergieBlaster 2000: http://hamtech.dk/mmamps/HD130R-210X-210 RH.jpg While it may not have the visual potency of my previous 'big rig' 130R-412GS-212RH, it has added clarity and is not as directional in its sound pattern. It may actually be the best sounding amp setup I have ever played. The head is a later solid state driver version but still sounds kick-a**! This new weapon in the loudness war in my band will be deployed for the first time on Dec 17 when we have a bar gig. Cheers, Lars Verholt |

An update: After the bar gig on Dec 17 last year, I was somewhat disappointed. I had hoped for a few comments like "man, that's too loud, Lars" or "I now realize your amplifier potency, you win" and the like. Well, I got "dang Lars, that was the first time I could actually hear what you were playing - nice!" from Fergie. Bummer! Fast forward a couple months, we have been booked for that same bar for April 14. While I was away spending Easter week with my family overseas the guys had a practice without me. Yesterday we had the final rehearsal before the upcoming gig. On the way in the car our lead singer admitted that they (meaning the rest of the band) talked and wanted me to leave the FeargieBlaster 2000 at home. Apparently there had been complaints about the awesomeness, er I mean, loudness of my guitar at that show in December. All I can say is: WHO'S THE BIG DOG NOW FERG! ;) Since my trusty old 112 65 is suffering from lack of volume (the shoemaker's kids and all that...) I will bring the 130R head and only the 210X cab on Saturday. Also, the rhythm guitar player will use the RD-50 110 instead of RD-65 112. This should cut down on the available horsepower. I'll let you know who wins that round! -Lars Verholt |

This past Saturday I played an outdoor gig with the FergieBlaster 2000. It's a bit like driving a turbo-charged ATV - you know you have a lot of horses under the hood and you need to work at keeping it under control. It sounded great, but I should have worn earplugs. At least nobody complained about the sound level. I don't think I ever went higher than 6 on the master volume combined with 5 on the channel volume. FWIW, the rhythm guitarist had no problem cutting through with an RD-50 110. For the size, the itty-bitty MM is formidable. Cheers, Lars |
