I spend a lot of time on the MM Guitar forum, and it has been announced by Stirling Ball, that MM are going to start making amps again. OK so if I were a betting man I'd bet that they will be solid State bass amps, but you just never can tell with Sterling Ball. He does throw a lot of curve balls and his company is famed for it's innovative approaches. You can see the full announcement here .... http://forums.ernieball.com/blogs/big-po ppa/30-early-days-music-man.html |

Re the above - I'm not sure whether this is the right place to have this thread - maybe a mod could scrutinize? |

Hadn't heard this but I can't think of a better place to put it than the BRAG section! Let's hope they do them justice and make something besides SS bass amps (Although, when I play bass, I PREFER SS!) Mike. |

I was having trouble with my 2/12/65 so I took it to a nearby college town that had a shop that worked on amps. The tech open up my amp and put her brains on a work desk in front of him. After a quick look he commented on the quality components that he saw in the board. "Not like that **** crap," he said. So I had to ask him his thoughts about **** gear. "Anybody can build a amp," was his reply. I guess it was then when I realized I had something here, and should take better care of my amp. So I started taking it to his shop for check-ups and everything else. It paid off for me in the end. I hope these new amps will be of the same quality. Dave |

Well, having now had time to reflect, I see no reason why MM should not build a guitar amp? After all - WE know that there is nothing wrong with a SS pre amp and valve power amp. I'll post something again when I see further info on the Ernie Ball forum. |

Further quotes from Sterling Ball state ... "the guitar amps are faithful reproductions the bass amps are super current" " there wil be a modern voiced pedal matched to the amp for gain" .. so guitar amps and bass amps mmmmmmmm nice!! |

More info at http://www.music-man.com/amps.html. RD50, 212 HD 130 and HD 130 head and 412 cab are this year's offerings. Built by the Mark Bass guy and it looks like they are going to be pretty lightweight. Now if they'll only reissue the 210/Sixty-FIve so I can keep my original safe at home... |

Here is a Youtube video from the Musikmesse where the new MM amps are presented by two Italian gentlemen. Even if your Italian is basic (like mine) I'm sure you can get the basics of the presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR-XwHfeF Hw&feature=player_embedded Sincerely, Lars Verholt |
