Hey Steve, I found this amp at a garage sale and I'm pretty it's a Music Man. It's covered with roll & tuck black naugahyde, has a purple pilot light, 2x12's and a police siren horn. A previous owner silk screened his band's name, "Kustom" on the front panel, but I'd like to restore it to stock. Are you familiar with this model? - Rump | ||

You will find the "Chassis Number" on the back of the chassis, metal plate, left back side. Example 2275-130. | ||

Nope... it sounds like you have a Kustom amp! They are quite collectable but I do not know what they sound like. The horn doesn't sound too promising, though! They were famous for their tuck & roll coverings and the purple pilot light jewel. Music Man never made an amp with a horn! Steve | ||

hi, have a 212-65 . bought it off of a guy who claims was original owner. says he purchased in 1975. It has the 12ax7 phase inverter, silver logos. the serial number is cn00609. its all original(just had it retubed) in 9 plus condition. What year do you think it is? what is the value of this amp? It really sings, very happy with it. Thanks | ||

A 212-65 with the 12AX7 phase inverter should put it squarely in the 1974-1976 time frame for sure. If in excellent operating condition with no major rust or cosmetic problems I have seen them sell for $300-$500. It all depends on who is selling it (dealer or individual) and whether it is a private sale or auction. What it comes with effects pricing as well... original paperwork, cover, footswitch, etc. Steve | ||

Hey Steve... I've got a Music Man 212 Seventy-Five with the serial number CN04042. The speakers in it are "Scorpion" and I suspect they are not stock. I got it at a pawn shop in PA for about $200 about eight years ago. It sounds great. Any idea what year it was made? It's in very good shape, so if you want, I could take some pictures of it for the site. | ||

steve, just accuired a 212hd-130 mdl# 2475-130 sn#0004398. i notice you referring to the 12ax7 phase splitter. is that the same as a 12ax7a phase splitter? would it also be in the '74-'76 time frame? also, any idea of the value? except for a little rust on the chrome parts this thing looks great! | ||

For Rich B re:MM 212-75 The 75 & 150 series models were made from 1980-84. Without actual production figures and some clear indication that Music Man actually used serial numbers in a chronological fashion, I can't get any more specific than that. You would have to look inside on on the chassis for any clues as to specific month/year of production. $200 is a very good price! | ||

For Steve Wheeler re:212HD-130 Yes on all counts... same tube, same timeframe. "000" steel wool will polish out most of the surface corrosion on the nickle-plated MM hardware. A light rust is so common it is considered standard equipment after 20 years! | ||

Just bought a Music Man HD150. Trying to figure out the date on this tone mother. there is a hand-written "60" in white on the inside part of the front panel. mean anything? | ||

It is doubtful that this has anything to do with a date. The HD-150 amps were made from 1980 through 1984. The only way to get a date is to take the chassis out of the cabinet and look all over it (inside & out) for a sticker or grease pencil marking with some sort of date info (i.e. "7/83"). | ||

Hi Steeve, I find a Music man 212 seventy-five, with Phasor,color white plastic tweed, Chassis 2475-75 Cal serial no. CN04218. I look for the year of this amp? Is it possible to take the output of one channel and plug it in second channel??? Thank you Michel | ||

The "75" series amps were made between 1980 and 1984. You should be able to strap the channels together just like on the 65, 130 and 150 series of 2-channel amplifiers. This can't be done on the RD/RP series amps because these are not dual-channel amplifiers and have only one preamp channel. Steve | ||

Hi biazzosmith, i can hook you up with a suped up 2 10" 130W HD combo (12ax7 130 in script etc) the sort after MM's. It has 2 Altec speakers in it that cost $500 each, but you hear the moneys worth. it also has an effects loop, line out and line level pro fitted... Hello Steve, I often read about how the MM 1x12 65 watt amps with the word "Sixty Five" written in script on the logo badge have a 12AX7 tube. However, I have one of these amps, but it does not have the 12AX7 - do you think this would likely be some type of transition amp? | ||

Usually they do, but your amp could have been made during the transition period when they may have had more model plates than 12AX7 models to put them on OR it could have been retrofitted with the solid-state phase splitter board at a later time (warranty repair, etc.). I assume that it has the chassis hole for the 12AX7 but it is covered with a plate held on with two screws. Steve |
