Hey folks, I've heard a lot of different things about speakers. Just trying to figure out what I should do. Basically my setup now has the one original musicman speaker and one Eminence replacement speaker someone else popped in there. They look like two distinctly different speakers. Amp is pretty freakin loud but I think it would sould better with higher power speakers. I was going to take the old speakers and make an extension cab with them so I could play them with another amp if I want to. A lot of people are talking about the Weber California 10's. I notice their website says the speakers can handle 80 watts each but below the picture it says 60 watts. Huh? which is it. Anyway they look reasonably priced. Would these things take a beating from a 130 watt amp? Can anybody recommend some nice Eminence high power replacements? I never play dirty. I just like it warm, clean and loud with no breakup. I notice avatar's website has some pretty nice speakers for a good price (eminence) As always I appreciate all feedback.

Hey again Kevin: I emailed Ted at weber about the conflicting watt rating on the california 10's, he said they are 80 watts. I ordered them and got them today, took about 6 days.Besides looking great, I went for the aluminum dustcovers, they sound fabulous. Very clean crisp and clear, but will break-up if push hard with gain.Very reasonably priced good service.I saw some eminence betas rated for 250 watts on ebay recently, but I have tried eminence with not good results, although I havent tried any rated that high. I really like these webers and higly recommend them, but Iwould check with Ted at webervst on the power deal.I have also tried celestions vintage 30's sounded okay but not as good as the california's, good luck and let everybody know which way you go and how it works out.

I am trying to find out what are the original/correct speakers for a HD210 one thirty combo as my housemates have put a sizable hole through one of mine, thanks
OOPS-sorry nobody responded
OOPS-sorry nobody responded ti this. I never saw it so I'M an idiot. Anyway, the speakers in the 2-10-130 were honestly NOT very good. I would actually recommend you look at something like weber or celestion high power and find something comparable and get bot as the same time. Mike.
Thanks for responding,I was
Thanks for responding,I was thinking,if I can't find/get/want the original speaker whether it would work to keep the undamaged one and pair it with something else?any further suggestions for particular speakers,I am in Australia.i didn't think the original speakers were too bad
It will work as long as they
It will work as long as they are the same impedance. I just think it would be better to get them both at once. You COULD replace them one at a time though for dollars sake. The 130-10's had a reputation for having crappy speakers. I have a 65-2-10 that I replace with Weber California's and THOSE speakers are better than the 130's. The 130's had an inability to handle bass much and sounded kind of flappy. Mike.
So...are you saying that the
So...are you saying that the 210-130 speakers were different than the 210-65 speakers? I'm loving everything about my 210-65 including the speakers but then I have a Emi Ragin Cajun in my Concert II that I'm not crazy about.
The 130 speakers WERE
The 130 speakers WERE different, but the numbers escape me at the moment (haven't had my coffee yet!) but you can search the archives as I KNOW this subject has come up. The 130's obviously had to take more power but I remember they really didn't hold up well, IF I remember correctly. The 65's had better speakers but they weren't designed for 130 watt usage. Never used a rajin cajun but Emi has a LOT of speakers available. Personally, if I were going to try to do music man, I'd probably look at something with a british lean as MY MM's have all been bright as hell and needed taming. My 2-10-65 has almost NO bass response and always swore I'd do something about it but it works for what I use it for (recording) so I leave it alone. Mike.
Hd210 one-thirty speakers
Yep,I'd read through a fair few of the discussions looking for the actual speaker I.d,but so far no luck.of course they have to be rated to handle 130 watts as opposed to 65 and I
'd read that they aren't (obv)the ones used in the 65.i agree that they don't handle that big bottom twang like a fender but not sure I'd agree with flabby.anyhoo,in my quest to get it up and going again I've been researching speakers a bit.i'm wondering whether anyone would have an opinion on Lorentz which is an Australian company (I'm in Australia)that claims to make a version of the original rola/plessey which became the Celestion greenback, they are based in the old rola factory and use the original machinery/(some of the original)staff.if you search "Lorentz" there is a history on the process.thinking of getting one to start with, see how it sits with the remaining original then perhaps getting another.any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
GO FOR IT! I actually didn
GO FOR IT! I actually didn't know anybody was building spkrs in OZ. I'd be interested in hearing how it goes. Mike.
If the Lorentz are true copies
I know I love my Celestions. If the Lorentz are true copies of the Greenback, go for it. Let us know how they sound. I know....LOUD! -mgriffin
HD 10" Speaker replacement
I love the EV Force 10 or the EVM10M, if you can find them. Very efficient and will absolutely handle anything you throw at them
