Replacement speaker for 212 65

So I recently bought a 212 65 on CL. Had a new power switch and fuse holder put in and had it recapped. It's still at the shop and one of the speakers is blown. I have access to a 1969 cts alnico.

Thoughts on running that along with the original that is still good?

Eventually I can get this reconed but looking for an inexpensive replacement for now.

Will post a pic when I get it back.

In theory, yes

Hi Jim,

the CTS speaker would only be subjected to ~ 33 watts at the most in the amp. The only maybe in this equation is how much the CTS is actually rated for. In 1969 amps in general were not as powerful as only 5 years later. For casual use at home I don't see a problem even if the speaker is a little on the light side. You'll never play it loud enough for long periods of time to damage anything. If you are gigging/practicing it's a bit more iffy of course. You don't want the thing to crap out (technical term) in the middle of a song :)
Look at the CTS's voice coil dimensions and magnet size. It should give you a rough idea of how much power it can take.

Clear as mud?

Cheers,
