Hi Guys, proud to say my uncles amp that we loved when we were young is back!! I received it when he passed away unexpectedly and we were very close. The family wanted all his new stuff like a fender blues jr and a marshall 40 watt anda masrshall solid state double stack and an old bassman but not me. I found the music man in the garage piled up with junk mouse nest on the reverb tank cob webs you name it. I knew how much he loved that amp. When the pots got bad he put it in the back room and there it sat. I posted another topic under model and serial numbers. You folks said it has EV Force speakers. My uncle was told by the music store it was a prototype, I now don't think that is true. It took a lot of cleaner and the corner protectors were rusty. I took them off and cleaned them up removed the chassis and cleaned the pots put new tubes in then put it together. I found reading this site it has to be biased but I wanted to turn it on for a second. BAD MOVE the fuse blew so I pulled the Tubes out. I'm an honest guy so I got to tell you what an idiot I am. Ive switched out tubes for years and this time the alignment pin was off and I knew I screwed myself. I couldent sleep at night very well so I went to the local music store and they dident know Music Man ever made amps so that was scary. I was reading this site and came across a man on here named Terry Loose that fixed Music Man amps and posted a repair in 2002. I emailed him and he replied. I told him the stupid thing I did and he had me send him my amp chassis. Turns out the Driver Transistor was bad and the Driver Chip was bad as well. He said it has the DB-4 board in it and he liked that version. He also recapped it for me and sent it back. I was so paranoid putting the tubes in!! All in all Terry saved me Thank you guys and Terry thank You!! I just want to do something that would make my uncle proud and this was it. That amp Rocks!! Played on it 2 hours last night. I noticed its different then most amps. You can dial it in to have slight break up or super clean or distorted. I love the power and the reverb. Music Man is truly one of a kind and now that I own one I'm a fan too!!

Great story! - well the first
Great story - well the first part was!! That looks a really nice amp - very rare over here in the UK - more photos please!!!!
Agreed - great story and cute amp!
Glad to hear you got the amp saved by a reputable tech (to say the least).
There are lots of nice things to say about just looking at photos on this site too: No strain on your back, little to no issues from the missus as long as I ensure her I'm only looking. 4 x 10 amps should come with a roadie though :)
Cheers,
Lars Verholt
Awesome find!
That is a great looking amp. Hope you got some casters for it. Most importantly...enjoy that beast.
About a hundred pounds!!
Yea its heavy but I don't mind. I have the casters but am currently just doing studio work/jams so it stays home. I have a ampeg V-4 with 4x12 cab that's real heavy so this isent too bad you just have to bear hug it!! I have jammed many times with my uncle playing this rig but never played it myself. I love the cleans this amp produces. Also you can dial in a little break up with the Volume turned up to 6 or 7 and the master down to 3 or 4. Its a unique amp similar to Fender but Unique from any other amp Ive played. It has Balls! 10 inch speakers are the best for clean bluesbut I do like 12 inch closed back for harder Rock because of the chunkiness to them. All in all you guys are right Music Man amps are some of the best products out there. Thanks for the input. All my other amps are collecting dust!! On the 4th of July there were bombs going off all around us so...... I rolled the Music Man over to the Garage door opened it turned up to 3/4 volume and Rocked for about 10 or 15 min. (played a straight version of the star spangled banner and viviolla junction try to make Jimi proud with a Deja vibe I love that pedal!) I bet they heard it a mile away!! Love this AMP!!
