Greetings, just purchased a used amp from GC..opened it up to have a look see..I'd like your opinions as to if the caps look original, or have they been done? The amp sounds great! I know nothing about electronics, but know I have been looking for an amp like this for a long long time. I prefer my dirt from pedals, and the platform of bold cleans, great reverb and trem float my boat.It sustains for days!!
So, here are some pictures, I hope some one can chime in with some info. Do I need to do any preventative maintenance?
There is a penciled in date on a board reading DR10/14(3rd picture down, right side of photo between longer red wire shows date with pencil) so i am wondering if I have been lucky as to not have to fork out any $ for a recap, etc.
Thanks, and appreciate the wealth of info here..
PS, it came without a foot switch for the reverb/trem..is there a replacement available?

I would use JJ valves, they really handle the higher voltage MM amps require. Caps need replacing ASAP. I replaced all mine last year. Only one found to be blebing, but better to be safe than sorry. Regarding Rev/Trem footswitch. There are usually some fender replacements on eBay. If you are planning on changing the caps yourself, please make sure all voltage is removed. Also take a photo of the caps and make sure +/- are the right orientation. There is also lots of info on this site relating to cap changing/vaqlves and biasing after valve replacement.
So the fender replacement
So the fender replacement switch with the RCA jacks will work...cool...I'll have a pro do the electronics..not my thing...JJ E34L or their 6ca7? Thanks!
