HI,
I've had this musicman 212HD 130 since 1993 when i bought in a shop in Middletown, CT. It's been a solid workhouse. Just pulled it out of storage after 10 years and have been really enjoying it.
Can anyone help me date it from the serial number? I hear the early models have a tube in the pre-amp section and I believe this is one of them. Can anyone comment?
chasis number: 2475 - 130
serial no: C0000427
Thanks,
Josh
Sorry to not have seen this.
Sorry to not have seen this. Anyway, the early tube driver amps indeed did have a 12ax7a in the driver section. It would be the little silver shield with the tube inside it to the left of the transformers as you look at it from the back of the amp. The power tubes are on the right. Actual dates are almost impossible but if you take it apart, you might find some markings inside. The speakers ahve code on them to tell you when they were made as well as transformer numbers. In general though, the tube driver amps were made from about 74-77(?) and then they were converted over to SS driver section. With that s/n, I'm guessing 76-77. My 2-10-65 starts with BN 000 something with four digits on the end. Mike.
