Here's a new topic... post pictures of your Music Man rig at a gig you played. Here is one of mine I ran across. This was at a summer backyard jam party at a friend's house a few years ago.  The guitars were plugged directly into the Music Man 410-65 for clean and through the effects rack for other tones. The effects rack includes a Mesa Studio tube preamp, ART SGE Mach II (for micro pitch-shifting), a Behringer Autocom Pro compressor, an MXR 175 1000ms Digital Delay and a Rocktron Velocity 120 power amp. The guitars were plugged into the Mesa preamp whose A output drove the Music Man 410-65 directly and B output driving the effects chain. The output of the effects drove the Velocity power amp which sent the "wet" effects to the Avatar 212 cabinet in stereo. So this is actually a 3-channel guitar set-up. The sound clip was played on the Les Paul. The 410-65 looks almost new because I bought this one from a church that had it for the first 20 years of its life and it got pushed off a stage and landed on its face! Since it had cosmetic and electronic damage but was otherwise in pretty clean condition, I put new grill cloth on it, cleaned up everything else and straightened out the chassis and replaced the knobs and one pot. It needed new speakers as well so you can see, much of what you CAN see in the photo was recently replaced or cleaned so it does look good (and sound good too). Also, while I currently play in a band, we only practice about once every 2 weeks and play out only a few times a year. Since I am playing bass in this band, my guitar stuff doesn't go too many places so it is easier to keep it in good shape! Steve | ||

To bad-you had some nice chops in there. We are the exact oposite-we're practiced twice in two years and play almost every week. WE work out new songs between breaks! It's sometimes amazing how we all remember the original arrangements years after the songs are out. I used to play part time bass in the last incarnation of our act but this bass player is a BASS player so we don't need me to switch. | ||

I used to play out every week and get in some practice about once a week or so but that was before I was married! 21 years later I don't have the time or energy to play out all the time. The reason I didn't miss it as much as I thought was because it got to be too involved, I felt like a furniture mover who got to play guitar for a few hours in exchange for moving all this equipment for twice as many hours! When I was looking for some guys to play with locally (in the present timeframe) I found that EVERYBODY thinks they are a lead guitar player! Tons of Lead Guitar players were looking for bands while all the bands were looking for Bass and Keyboards! I switched over to Bass for that reason, although I have played bass on and off all my musical life so it wasn't a stretch, just a mental rearrangement of my musical priorities. I still play guitar with friends every so often or on Jam Band nights at a few of the local clubs. Steve | ||

This isn't exactly a brag out about amp thingy, but I did want to post the pics of my MM amp(along with my other junk). Unfortunately, due to how stinking LOUD we get, my MM isn't my first line amp any more. I've had to go back to the twin because of our stuff. Rest assured, when something's broke(like it was last week when the Twin blew up) the MM is along for backup. THe Twin o'd last week but luckily when the OT broke loose and was hanging by the wires and swung around and broke a tube off, the MM was there to cover my a$$! Luckily, I tried it the night before and after fixing the transformer, fired it up and immediately smoked a plate resistor or two. Back to the basement for a quick fix! Anyway, I KNEW my MM would work so it was in the trailer and went in to the job as backup. Didn't need it but it's nice to know it's there. To Mike: I had to laugh about the morphing Twin Reverb... a number of years ago I helped a guy do the very same thing for weight reduction (except he had an original cabinet that was damaged by standing water so we converted it to a head using that cabinet). I was disappointed to find that you didn't label the tuner mounted on your pedalboard "Modified for Tone". That would be a great inside joke! I see we do a few of the same songs your band does... but I REALLY liked your main picture (when you were less clean shaven)! That's a classic! To Steve P: Great photos! While I do not have Music Man bass amps, we do have a similar taste in bass guitars. I have 2 Fender Precision Bass Specials, both with maple Jazz-sized necks (my favorite). Here is a picture of me playing the black one:  I alternate between the black one and the cream colored version of this same bass that really looks a lot like yours (except for the anodized pickguard):  In related news (with Music Man content), I recently played a gig with a bunch of guys I haven't played with in about 30 years! Our high-school Stage Band group got back together (missing a lot of horns) and did a few numbers at an Alumni BBQ. The interesting thing about this gig was that earlier in the evening I played Bass with my band at this year's Vernonia Oregon event (outdoor gig) that is pictured above and we played "Proud Mary" in that 1.5 hour continuous set. We finished at 7:00PM, I ran home (40 miles), unloaded all my bass gear, loaded some lightweight guitar equipment and headed off to the Alumni BBQ gig (20 miles away in the opposite direction, also an outdoor gig... venue shown below) to play by 9:30PM! I barely made it in time but it was a GAS! I played lead guitar (Except for "Proud Mary" which we did at THIS gig too!) and Bass at two widely separated outdoor gigs in the same evening and played "Proud Mary" at both of them. This is definitely a first for me! One of the other lead guitarists was playing through his Music Man 110RD-50:  Since I don't have a small lightweight Music Man for emergency conditions like this I played through my Groove Tubes Solo 45 and a Nady TD-1 tube driver. I put up a new web site for these guys (just in the last week... most of them don't even know about it yet) and I posted an MP3 taken from a recording my son made with a home video camera. CC Ram Jam web site... click on the bass The quality isn't great but I'm the lead guitar that is more bassy and on the left side while Dave and his MM 110RD-50 are on the right with wah tones. Too cool! I haven't had that much fun playing in a single day for years! Note that you can barely make out the same Music Man 110RD-50 below, in the shadows next to that Fender Cyber Twin. In order to post an .mp3 sound file or an .avi video file you must already have these files posted to a server or some other web site. Then, you simply post a LINK to that file in your message using the correct formatting as found in Help/Instructions link at the bottom of every page (found in the "Formatting"/Other Formatting section). This system will host photos but the big files have to live somewhere else. Steve | ||

Geez, I guess I missed these posts! never did see these pics of you steve. Yeah, I SHOULD have modified the tuner description! That's about as goofy as some people get. I don't remember which pic you're talking about steve. Must have been a few pages ago. I change stuff whenever I get a minute to re-write a page and just make up stuff as I go so there'e no telling where THAT pic was from. Actually, now the twin is retired too and the main guitar amp is a bassman head through 2-1x12 cabs with jbl's in them. Bass rig is hartke 3500 through a kappa pro15LF and 2-10 cab with delta 10's in it. Guess I could take pic this weekend. It's been a while since I did THAT. I play part of the night on keys so it gets crowded sometimes with the little dumps that we play sometimes. I'll try to get some pis though. Have to hold up my end! | ||

It looks like we have the same 410-65 model. Does yours have the solid-state phase splitter? My 410-65 doesn't get used everytime I play but it is one of my favorite amps for tone AND the most reliable. I have never had a problem with it and I haven't worked on it in 10 or 12 years! Steve | ||

MM at the gig
Not to be outdone(although usually AM!), one of the few pics I have of my 2-10 out in the daylight at a job. On the right, strap is partially covering badge but you can tell. Small club in St Louis (that no longer is open-MORE mismanagement). Nice place WEIRD owner, like all of them!
Here's my stuff
Here's a pic of me at an open jam at a local restaurant a few months ago. Pointing up is the 110RD 50; the bigger one is a 115HD-65. I slave the 110 through some stereo effects and it gives me this huge sound. The 115 volume is at about 1 1/2, and the 110 rarely goes above 4. And that's LOUD.
(And no, I don't play country unless I have to. The hat is just an affectation.)
