Just as an added comment, I would WELCOME some added bass in MY 2-10. I know 10's don't have much bass response anyway but mine seems particularly lacking in low end. I have thought about going in and upping the bass but it works for me the way it is for what I am using it for so I haven't done anything. Mine also seems to break up awful early but since I mainly use it in a recording type scenario, it works there. I do get some added low end by running it through an old d-130 cabinet so that helps. I have a non-reverb HD-130 head too and I use it for both guitar and bass! Pay no attention to the channel labels. If it sounds good, use it! Besides, the thing that makes the HD-130 a bass amp are the Bass speakers you should using with it. Plug it into a guitar speaker and there you go, dual duty (but that would be DD instead of HD).
Another cool idea is to load a 212 cabinet with Eminence Delta Pro speakers. It is a spendy mod (about $300 for a pair with shipping) but these bad boys are awesome bass speakers as well as great guitar speakers so one cabinet could be used to support both bass and guitar!

Eight years on and there's a follow-up question here...
Found an ad for a HD-130 head with two channels "normal" and "bass" no reverb.. he wanted relatively much money for it compared with what a 212HD-130 combo usually moves for.
So it got me wondering what the differences are between the two?
May sound stupid but what if I buy a more common 212HD combo for less do I get "the same" amp?
I already have a 212 with an extra 115rh cab and use this with guitar.
The aim with the purchase was to plug it to my other 115rh and use as a bass amp. But am I just buying what I already have? Is that "bass" cannel just letters on the plate?
I am confused.

Never really compared the two but just gave the schems a glance and I don't see anything major different. A samll difference in the second preamp stage around the second preamp IC but I'm sure it has to do with the signal coming in from the reverb send and the trem circuit. Other than that, sthe finals are the same and I don't see much difference. Mike.
This was helpful thanks. I realize it's also a matter of looks (of a stack) oc, but over here in Sweden the combos seems to be far more common and thus cheaper. And with a combo you get more hardware (to carry around) obviously. Again - thanks!
