this is my well loved 1974 212-hd 130, serial number C004909. How i got her is an interesting story, I was on patrol on day shift and as i was passing by one of the recycling centers in the county, i happened to look and see this young guy pulling an amp out of his car, at first , i thought it was a fender twin but as i turned around and went back, i saw it was a musicman. i asked what he was doing with it and he told me he pulled it out of his (dead) grandfathers den and removed the 2 12" speakers and was going to put them in his car. as he let go of the handle, i gladly snatched up the amp. and placed it in the rear seat of my patrol car (seatbelted of course). I ordered a pair of carvin vintage series speakers for it and installed them. The amp came on and the tubes glowed but very little crappy sound came out. I put it in the shop and after a new set of tubes and a cap job, she sings like she used to. Im also happy to say that shes in very near mint condition, no tears or rips in the grill or tolex and as far as a missing foot switch, Shes a keeper. Too bad you couldn't offer him some change to get the original speakers too! I traded a Plush cab with 4 JBL 12's for my '79 112 RP 65. A good deal to say the least but not as good as yours that's for sure. | ||

Started her out young and she's learning fast. She has a small vox but you can see which amp she prefers using. By the way, Was wondering where everyone's from. Curious to know how close some of us are to each other. Augusta Ga. here.  | ||

Fellows, I found a 100 Watt head i want to buy thats 4 ohms. My 4-12 cab is (mono only) rated at 300 Watts 16 ohms. Is this something i shouldnt do as far as matching or will it be ok? | ||

Doesn't the 100 watt head have an impedence switch? If it does, set it for 8 ohms and your 16 ohm cabinet will be OK. If not, that's too far out. If your cabinet is 16 ohms, it's four 16 ohm speakers in series/parallel so you can go inside and wire the four speakers all in parallel and get a perfect 4 ohm load. Tip to all four "+" and ground to all four "-" and you have it. | ||

No, The head is 4 ohm period. No selecting with this one. Its not a MM head but i knew you would have the answer i needed. Thanks. |
