Thanks Lars. I heard these in an HD130 recently and want to try them in this. I am currently running original like new Sylvania but would like to save the wear on them at the moment. I would like to hear some of the JJ/Teslas too. I had been around this site alot in the early days but not for some time now. I will be around for good now. I love these amps. All of you have been doing great things with everything around here. John

Back in the day, I used to buy tubes (valves) from this old Norwegian guy. He had a warehouse full of old tubes (some NOS, some 'newsed') - all the right sh**. It was an absolute pleasure to use the old narrow 'stick' original Philips EL-34 in an HD-130 head. Of course the phase splitter was a vintage Telefunken or Miniwatt or Siemens brand. I still have one of those ECC83 in my Chandler Tube Driver. My 112 Sixty-Five combo had Mullard EL-34 (real ones) and probably a Telefunken or Philips ECC83. But I digress... Sometimes I would buy new tubes from the same guy - and he said Svetlana was the best. That is of course what is known as 'winged C' in the US nowadays. Excellent quality, and they work really well in the special MM environment. As you can tell I tend to spoil my amps with nice tubes, so I have tried the de-luxe version of the 'winged C'/Svetlana tube. Was it worth it? You bet, it was like having white-walls on a car. Absolutely no advantage when driving, but I knew I had the more expensive version So there! -Lars Verholt PS - my old tube source (no pun intended) is now in a nursing home I believe. So no more dealios on Telefunkens from him, but it sure was nice when it lasted Thanks, Lauritz. May your remaining days be pleasant and stress-free.

While we are doing a little reminiscing, I used to buy all my electronics goodies from a place called Ebinger Radio in Alton. You'd love this old place. It was an old WW2 era quonset hut building(round steel) that was painted a gawd awful color of blueish green. It was primarily a TV repair electronics place that was wholesale but they knew me back in the day and sold to me wholesale. I found a receipt not too long ago where I bought 6L6GC's for $2.29 each. And these were Sylvania. The guy that worked there was name Gary something and he was a nice guy and tolerated me(no small feat). Anyway, they are why I have several quads of Original Sylvania 6CA7's in the basement shop. They were so cheap back then and Gary was telling me that I'd better get them while I could because tubes were going to be a thing of the past soon. Little did I know how right he was. Remember, this was the 70's. Oh well, enough of the reminiscing and letting people know how freaking OLD I am. Mike}

Lars, Lauritz did not have a son or daughter carry on the family business?? Oh well that is too bad. I just picked up a quad of Svetlana 6L6GC's in original packaging from 1975. From a little shop that had a lot of old tube HiFi and radio gear (in Hong Kong) for $60 US. Have to wait til I get home to hear them. We
