All is good here Mike, just coasting along.. How many guitar players does it take to change a light blub? Four.. One to change it, and the other three watch him and then say, "I can do that." (old joke but that's all I got) Dave.

Kind of slow here too. Having one heluva time typing with this freaking broken wrist. Now in my 5th week with this %&#*% cast and it is REALLY getting on my nerves. Hope I haven't missed anybody's email for entrance but I actually mis-typed a couple and had to re-send the info. I type bad enough with TWO hands, much less with one. Sorry if I ramble but it's nice to hear stuff about these amps and I just appreciate the effort that Steve has put into this site and hosting it. It's great to have an interest in these and I hope it continues in the future. PS-if I've missed anybody for entry, let me know. I AM a klutz at times(cue my wife for making fun of me for falling down the steps)

Hey, just want to thank you guys for keeping this site alive. Checking in regularly brings me a lot of pleasure and I'm not on Facebook so this is it for me. Last week it looked like it was down for a while and I missed it so I thought I'd let you know you are appreciated.

Yeah, last week Steve had a server issue but it's back up. Wish we a had a little more participation but you can't get blood out of a turnip. I'm just as big a duck in the puddle as the next guy-if it ain't broke, I WON'T fix it!

Just to say that I reckon there are plenty of us that visit and use the resources here without nessessarely posting, so a silent thanks from here as well. Ive also got to say that my Musicmen are incredibly reliable and dont generate lots of appeals for help, so im kinda with the "if it aint broke dont fix it" camp as well. Cheers

Boy that's true Jeremy, I'm begining to think my amps will outlast me. They're still going strong and I'm slowing down. A thousand years or so from now, when who or what does an archaeological dig on top of my house, all they'll find is a couple of MM amps ready to jam.

Hello all, sorry for not having contributed much lately - the day job is sucking most of my time out of me. However, I have been able to get the MM amps out to play. This past Thursday I dragged the 'big rig' out - I warned everybody at the jam session that it would be loud and obnoxius, and it sure was 8-) http://www.hamtech.dk/mmamps/ampstack.jp g I have an outdoor gig on Sep 1, hoping I can take the stack there and let it rip as it was intended. Cheers, Lars

Makes me wish I had the pics of me playing some outdoor gigs back in the 70's when I was playing MM all the time. Actually, the one REALLY loud setup I had was TWO 130 watt heads powering TWO Orange 4x12's. THAT baby was loud. Of course, I was 30 yrs younger and could haul that crap around! We never had any 4x12 cabs back then-don't really know why. We sold the whole MM line but our purchasing agent for the company never ID get us any. The 2x12 folded horn was the biggest cabs we had. HMMMM. Wonder why, now that I think of it. That was back in the Clapton days and you would have though that they would have pushed that. Weird. Nowadays, I use the smallest amp I can get away with! Go figure. Mike.

Speaking of kind of slow, that would be me these days. Oh, I still have some old friends drop by and we'll hoist a few, jam, howl at the moon, get caught up, and talk about the old days. (Ever have your rhythm guitar player drop another band's beautiful white Vox Phantom guitar right on stage and in front of the owner? ) But it's all good, Dave.

No but i watched the other guitar player in a band I was in lean his BEAUTIFUL tobacco sunburst Les Paul up against a metal railing on a vinyl floor and then start to pack up. Lean, lean, tilt, fall, break head off. What a dumbass. Good thing it was his and he was my best friend or I would have killed him! Mike.

Speaking of the old days, I certaintly appreciate the arrival of the personal tuner. One band in the early 70's, the steel player had a strobe tuner, and everyone would tune to that, but most had tuning forks, pitch pipes. I was a drummer in 81 when I bought, ($75) a tuner for the band I was in to use.

I have to second that. I was in a band back in the day that you all had to tune to the keyboard player because back then, you didn't just re-tune a porta-B. Then I bought my first and best tuner which was the original, large frame Korg Chromatic. THAT was an eye opener. Keyboard player bought better stuff that you COULD tune. I still have that Korg and use it and PREFER it for setting up guitars. Much more stable on the bench. Of course, have several of the other types and of course the pedal tuners on the pedalboard. THAT was an improvement to. No more unplugging to tune up and the ability to tweek between songs. Wonderful. Mike. |
