After a discussion about swapping ICs in my RD with my local repair Technician he gave me some cautionary advice. Be careful to get the pins in the correct socket. If you reverse pin 8 (+v) and pin 4 (-v) you can smoke the IC and the zeners in the low voltage filter. Also, looking for "better" devices than the TLO 72 or LM1458 is probably fruitless. The voltage swings may not be suitable. Plus, some of the newer devices which are advertised for lower noise floor actually pick up more stray noise as a result and are worse in the circuit. I tried swapping The TLO 72s in my 112RD 100 with variously TLE 2072 (Over distorts), and TLC272 APC (doesn't work). Not sure if this helps in any way, but I thought I would pass it along. |
