I'm not sure where to put this, but thought it was worth sharing. I have a couple of older Fluke meters, an 87, and an 88. I'm sure everyone is aware of the repair for missing digits, (I've replaced the connectors on both of these). However I had a problem with the 87 eating batteries, and partial digit display when handling the meter with it switched off. Did a search, and one source mentioned that the carbon on the back of the circuit board would smear, causing the problems I mentioned. I took it apart, and used q-tips, and tooth picks to clean the spaces between the carbon deposits, reassembled, and all is normal again. Used it yesterday, and battery is still up after 2 weeks. |
