It sounds like a 112RD-65 or 112RP-65. Does it have Phasor controls or two "Gain & Volume" control pairs? You probably wouldn't be asking this question if the nameplate was still on the front so I will assume it is missing. In order to be sure, look at the data plate on the rear of the amp and tell us what your "Chassis Number" is (near the serial number). This will identify which model & schematic to refer to. The serial number by itself can be ambiguous so most people don't refer to that. The 112RD-100 used 2 6L6 tubes. It must be an RD or RP model because of the single pair of input jacks (this indicates a single channel amp).

Thanks Steve, The data plate and the name plate are both missing....It does have two GAIN controls and is larger than my 112rd 50 .... Would their be anything inside to tell me what i'm dealing with? I would like to restore it to it's original look. Thanks Again, Terry

Terry I have an RD112-100 with EL34 tubes and 12" speaker (EV), which sounds very similar to yours. Should have two sets of volume/gain (4 knobs), bass/mid/treble controls (3 knobs) and reverb (1 knob). Mine also has a footswitch for "distortion channel" and reverb. There should also be on/off switch and standby switch. I have a friend who has the RD112-65 version of the amp (with EL84's as well (they look almost identical). The EL84's went into earlier versions of the amp, while later ones had the 6L6's. Hope this helps.

Hi, I am trying to find the year of my 112 RP-65. I want to change out the tubes, but I need to know the year first. It has the 2165RP chassis and 1 12'' speaker. It currently has 5881WXT SOVTEC tubes (made in Russia). The web page mentions that the only difference between the 1978-79 and the 1980-1984 is the tube type. It says the 1980-84 uses 2 6L6GC where the 1978-79 uses 2 6CA7 tubes. Can anyone enlighten me? Also how often should I be changing the tubes? Is there anything else I need to change to keep it sounding its best? I deeply appreciate any advice. |
