These are the EL34s that are in my 410-65. The paint is really worn off so "Dynamo" is my best guess. I've never heard of this company before, can anyone tell me about 'em?

What do you mean by "seams"? I don't know much about tubes, so you'll have to excuse my ignorance.

All tubes except mullards are smooth at the top. Mullards have a crease running across the top of the tube. Ummm how would I explain this...it almost looks like its pinched. Either its creased or it isnt its not hard to tell. Mullards are the only ones that I have seen that are creased. Look on ebay for mullards and look at the tops of the tubes to get an idea.

Definately not Mullards, these are smooth. The base of the tube is dark brown with black speks if that helps at all.

They are Dynaco tubes. A friend has a quad of them.

This quad is labeled Dynaco with Amperex under it.
These EL34's have two ring getters per tube. They tested weaker than the crappy Chinese tubes that came in my RD. Apparantly the previous owner had a thing fo Peavey. The Dynacos looked like the class 3 Mullards. I found the two of the four that matched closest and set the bias to about 24 on the weak tube. What a differance. I now under stand why every body hunts for the secret, hidden away garage sale stock pile of NOS(nice old Santa) tubes for $3.00. Every one must dream.
My RD seems to have woken up. Notes are much fuller, with a richer harmonic content. Reminds me why I liked my HD-130 so much. Although I have yet to use it with my pedal board. The low end is very odd in this amp. The tube change seems to have allevited the low not mechanical speaker rattle noted earlier today in the speaker area.
there again, as they say, "no ampy, no cranky".
Even at the lower valume used tonight I am more pleased with the amp than this morning. I'm not having good luck with MM's lately. Or maybe I'm having the bad luck. -LongFrost
