Here's a solid vintage Music Man RD 50 amp with its matching factory original 1x12 speaker cabinet that makes a powerful visual and sonic statement.
The Amp
Rare, first year of production Music Man RD 50 head amp, dates from 1981 based on it's original transformer codes. Puts out 50 watts from a pair of 6L6 power tubes, clean tone all the way up the Volume knob. If you are looking for LOUD and CLEAN in a SMALL package, this is the amp for you. Its big voice allows it to sit amazingly well in a mix of instruments.
All original except for the four rear panel mounting screws which may have been replaced. Amp weighs 24 lbs on my home digital scale.
The stellar clean tones of these amps are well known, and this one is no exception. The Distortiotswitchable with included original footswitch.
This amp is very clean, with some surface oxidation on the chassis straps and cab corners - very typical of these amps. No metal pitting or flaking, so all would likely buff out very nicely. Vintage Music Man amps - especially the head model - are becoming n channel works as designed, and is more of an acquired taste... Also has onboard Reverb. Both Distortion and Reverb are fooharder to find in clean and solid working condition.
The Cabinet
To complete the package, amp comes with its matching factory 1x12 speaker cabinet. As rare as the RD 50 heads are, original MM cabinets are even harder to find today. Very high quality closed back construction, tolex and hardware in simlar good condition like the amp head. Dual 1/4" jacks on plate on back for daisy-chaining additional speaker cabinets. The cab houses its original Music Man labeled Eminence 12" 8 ohm speaker. The cab measures 12.5" deep by 18" tall by 17.5" wide. Total weight of speaker and cab is 34 lbs.
Together, this vintage head and newer cab make a great looking, great sounding, highly portable and versatile rig.
