Hi, I have two 112RD Fifty combos. One has the "Limiter" feature and the other has the "Midshift" feature. The one with the "Midshift" feature has about two-thirds the volume of the other amp. I have tried swapping the tubes in each amp but the results are the same. Does anyone have any insight into this issue. Thanks, Robert

ok,here goes, from what research i have done on this amp and musicman amps in general heres what you have going on .first remember volume or loudness as we will call it is not relative totally to how many watts a amp is,the watts are mearely a measure of heat really.so the loudness of the amp is made up of how hard it will push certain freqencys at what dbs,its kind of a science actully, with speakers playing a major part as well.so the tubes while they will play a bit of a factor in tone, they rarely play a factor in loudness, unless one or more of the tubes are shot,i'm assumeing all your tubes are good.most that have commented on your amp have said it reminded them more of a 30 watt amp more then a 50.ok now the terms section :the midshift is exactly what it sounds like it alters the mids now being that musicman amps tend to be a bit middy thats why they seem louder, cut those mids it may seem the amp loses alot of volume ,the midshift was used to help the distortion sound better which has always been the bitch of most that own a musicman but when these amps were made that kind of distortion was state of the art .now the limiter is basiclly compression making soft stuff louder ,loud stuff abit lower ,things to make it so you can crank this amp up and not torture the speakers, remember the musicman guys always made amps that were not only guitar amps but also used as bass amps as well ,kind of a mistake in my opinion ,but great as a marketing tool.so here is what was going on : they were trying to help or fix or experiment with these amps so thats why you have these features and really your 2 amps are really differnt amps because of it .but speakers may help your prob more then tubes.
